TJ
Bennett is
a former Romance Writers of America (RWA) Golden Heart finalist
whose first novel, The Legacy, a historical romance set in
Early Reformation Germany that explores the destructive nature
of secrets, is an April 2008 release. Her follow-on novel,
The Promise, will be a 2009 release. TJ has placed in a number
of writing contests, including the Daphne du Maurier, the
Lone Star, the Lauries, the Heart to Heart, the Emerald City
Opener, and many others.
TJ
has led writing workshops and spoken on the literary "black
moment." She is the former editor for the Los Angeles
Romance Authors' (LARA) award-winning newsletter, The
LARA Confidential, as well as contributing several articles.
TJ is also a member of LARA and two Houston chapters of
RWA.
Her
varied background includes extensive travel in her youth
as a military dependent in Europe; being president of
her own consulting and training business for several years,
where she used the Myers Briggs Type Indicator personality
profiler
to help CEOs and managers develop successful work teams;
and working thirteen years as a civilian contract negotiator
for
the US Air Force, buying multi-million dollar satellite
and weapons systems. Armed with a BA and an MA in English,
she
began teaching college writing in 2002.
TJ
knows a lot about the black moments of life, and uses that
knowledge to enhance her writing. She believes that
nothing
is ever lost, and no painful experience is in vain:
it's
all research.
