Kathy
Steffen's inspiration comes from her roots in West
Virginia and her love of the mountains, rivers, and tales
of the people
who lived and worked there. Her stories are influenced by
a family history of hardworking people, struggling to build
lives with their hands and hearts, but never giving up their
dreams.
While her career
in advertising allowed her to be creative, her storytelling
took on a life of its own. She abandoned
the security of the real world to follow her characters into
their fictional existence and found these places filled with
suspense, mystery, romance, intrigue,
and more truth than she'd ever known.
She writes from a log home in the woods of Wisconsin that
she shares with her husband and two cats. The motivation for
her first book came from stories of her great-grandmother
who defied convention to live and work aboard a riverboat.
Kathy is a member of several writing associations, including
the International Women's Writing Guild, Mystery Writers of
America, and Romance Writers of America.
